Conservation Easements on Private Lands

There is tremendous value in conserving the natural, cultural, archeological, and scenic resources that exist on private lands. We are so fortunate to have worked with many generous landowners to protect their private lands with a conservation easement in both Vermont and New York. (For a list of our public access projects, visit our Hike & Paddle page.)

These critically important permanent conservation easements protect values that benefit the public, including the protection of biodiversity, water quality, core habitats and wildlife corridors, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. These private properties do not include public access in order to protect the integrity of these working forests, farm businesses, and wildlife preserves.
