Wildflower Season

We had beautiful weather for our wildflower hunt at Round Pond Natural Area in South Hero, VT this past Saturday! It's still early in the wildflower season, but we found some Bloodroot, Trout Lilies, Hepatica, Fiddleheads, and Horsetails.
If you haven't yet made it out to look for wildflower blooms, don't worry. We're hosting another family-friendly, Mother's Day wildflower hike on Sunday, May 12th from 1-3 pm at Eagle Mountain Natural Area in Milton, VT (directions). Join us as we hike the trails looking for signs of spring on the way to an overlook of Lake Champlain.
Due to parking limitations, we're limiting attendance to the first 20 people who RSVP. To RSVP, contact Sarah at

Tree Planting in Honor of Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! What are you doing to celebrate? Here at the Land Trust, we celebrated Earth Day yesterday, on a beautiful, sunny spring Sunday. A group of UVM Catamount Cares volunteers joined us at our Upper La Platte River Natural Area in Shelburne, VT and helped us plant trees that we received through the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Intervale Conservation Nursery as part of the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program.
The tree planting is part of a larger restoration effort at the Upper La Platte River Natural Area to improve water quality and reforest the floodplain. If you are interested in learning more about our restoration efforts, please feel free to call Executive Director, Chris Boget, at 802-862-4150 x 1.
Thanks for all your help, volunteers!
