Landing Burlington, Vermont |
Directions and Park Information: | |
On a clear October day Meg is out on the Burlington Bike Path to enjoy the remaining autumn days. "In the summer I come here regularly on my lunch hour," she explains. "I get to see a view other than my computer." The Bike Path has become the main conduit leading away from fast-paced daily lives, and Mayes Landing is a new resting spot at the end of the Bike Path along the Winooski River. Conserved by the Lake Champlain Land Trust, the Winooski Valley Park District, Local Motion, and the Trust for Public Land in 2000, Mayes Landing represents resident's interests in maintaining open spaces. Mayes Landing is one of 40 properties saved by the Lake Champlain Land Trust. Over the past 25 years the Land Trust has preserved thousands of acres and miles of shoreline on Lake Champlain. For information on becoming a member visit our website www.LCLT.org! |
Mayes Landing is not accessible by car or bus. It is located at the north end of the Burlington Bike Path, on the right when facing the Winooski River. Mayes Landing can be accessed by boating up the Winooski River, just past the terminus of the Burlington Bike Path.
The park is managed by the Winooski Valley Park District. Open dawn to dusk. There are no facilities available. Motorized vehicles are not allowed at Mayes, as the only access is via the bike path. Mayes Landing is a great resting spot if you kayak or canoe on the Lake, walk, skate or bike on the Bike Path. Please take out anything you bring with you. |
